SOOO here we go!!
My mom and I drove to Chicago, was about a 3-4 hour drive, with the traffic we hit. We got there the night before, and stayed at the Drake Hotel, which was about 4 blocks from the Bookstore Liza was going to be at. The night before, we went down and ask them what the rules and everything were for the event, and they were acting like they thoight she was only going to stay about 5 mins which was a joke to me, because I know how Liza is, she adores her fans. So, i tried to ignore that part. I was so worried that 1. I would eaither get there at 5am, and there would be billions of people there, and 2. if i got there and got a wristband, then...when they opened the doors at 8, i would have to stand in line from 8-2, to keep my spot. Well, I set my cellphone to wake me up at like 4:30....to take a shower, and get down there by 5, and go figure it DIDNT GO OFF. So, my mom was like "Jenn!" and I look at the clock and its 6:10, so I got up as fast has possible and tried to grab all my stuff and i got down there about 6:30. At First I didnt think anyone was outside but when i looked around the corner there was about 20 people or so in line. I got in line and called my mom to tell her what was going on, and that I got in line, and she should get down her by 8, so we could get wristbands. I was pretty happy with being 20 something in line. Well my mom came down, and a guy from borders came out, and was talkikng to us over a megaphone thing, telling us how it was all going to work, and the more he talked the better I felt. He told us that he was going to hand out papers saying where we are in line, so we can keep our spot! but i was still a little worried that after we got the wrist band, if we were going to have to start completly over and try and be first inline again. Well, after we got the band, i asked and she said if you get back before 1, we are garenteed our exact spot in line upstairs and that they will take us up there and put us in line where we should be. So, now, everything was PERFECT!So, we waited in line, well more like sat(as you can see in the pictures below), and waited untill two, when the guy said "we have just sent a Limo for miss Minnelli, she is on her way here" and everyone clapped. They had us all stand up, and get the insert of our dvds out for her to sign. They told us she prefers to personaliza everything and they came around and took out names and put a little stick note on the insert with our name on it, so she would know what it was. Finally, she walked in.(Click here to see that). And I couldnt believe how beautiful she looked...she looked better then she has looked in years, and even better then she looked on every talk show i have seen her on, and I thought she looked pretty damn good on all of those things. I wanted to die, i couldnt believe I wa standing there watching her walk right past me. So, she went over and did some press photos, and then said "im going to start signing now" and went and sat down, and the line started, so, i was video taping and taking some pictures the whole time i was inline, untill we turned a corner, and had to turn it all off. My mom was in front of me, and we go to where she was next, and I just wanted to cry watching her go up there and talk to her, because i know how much it ment to her to meet her after 40 years. I couldnt make out what she was saying to Liza, but I saw liza grab her hand, and hold it, later she told me everything she said to her, and that she said "Im sure you hear all of this, all the time" and she said "no I dont..not like this..thank you". Then it was my turn, and....I walked up there to Lizas beautiful "HI!" she is so sweet to everyone. I blanked, she said "oh you've got on that shirt" and I said yea..I was six" and she said "oh my god". Then she saw I had a DVD for a friend of mine Named Micah, and she said..."M-i-c-a-h" while she was writing it out, and smiled, I told her I brought her a birthday card, and she said "thank you, i will look at it when im done" and I said..I was going to send it to her, but I thought this was better" and she laughed. Then she was signing my dvd, and I told her "I dont know what to say" because i was standing there like a moron, blanking out completly "im just standing here staring at you" and she said thats ok! and she handed me the insert, and I said thank you, "and she said oh honey, hang in there!" and smiled! Then we walked off, and ended up getting interviewed for a chicago radio station, which was cool, and they had a journal thing, that you could sign for liza and then they give it to her, and we signed that, and left!it was an amaizing day!
